Uploading Project Instructions
Instructions let builders share PDFs or images that help others follow a build.
You can keep instructions private or make them available from a public project page.
Supported file types
BrickZap supports:
- JPG
- JPEG
- PNG
- WEBP
Recommended file naming
Use names that are easy to recognize.
Good examples:
castle-dock-instructions-v1.pdftrain-station-step-01.pngmoc-12345-parts-guide.pdf
Avoid vague names like final-final.pdf or image1.png.
Upload steps
What Scanning means
Scanning means BrickZap is checking the instruction file before it is attached to your project.
This helps protect builders from unsafe downloads.
If a file fails scanning
If a file fails the scan, BrickZap blocks it from being attached.
Try exporting the instructions again from the original source, then upload the clean file. Do not ask others to download a file that failed scanning.
Public and private instructions
Public instructions can appear on public project pages.
Private instructions are only for the project owner or people with the right access.
How public downloads work
Public downloads still go through BrickZap.
BrickZap checks whether the visitor can access the instruction, then sends the browser to a temporary download link. Temporary links help keep downloads protected.
Troubleshooting downloads
A download may fail if the project is private, the instruction is private, the scan is not finished, the file was removed, or the temporary link expired.
Refresh the project page and try again. If it still fails, contact the builder or BrickZap support.
